Our Story

Built by Web Developers, for Everyone Who Deals with Images

UltraImageCompression started with a simple frustration: why do professional image tools either cost money, require an account, or upload your files to servers you know nothing about?

🚀
Our mission

Professional image tools should be free — and your files should stay yours

We believe that compressing an image, removing a background or converting a format shouldn't require handing your files over to a company you've never heard of, creating an account you'll forget about, or paying a monthly subscription for functionality that a browser can handle natively.

Every tool on this site runs entirely inside your browser using standard web APIs — the HTML5 Canvas API for image work, pdf-lib for PDFs, and the remove.bg API (via your own free key) for AI background removal. There is no backend. When you compress a photo here, it never leaves your device. We mean that literally, not as a privacy policy talking point.

That constraint — building everything browser-side — actually makes the tools better in several ways. There's no upload step, no queue, no server capacity limits. You can compress 20 images at once and the only thing that changes is how fast your own machine processes them.

How we started

The problem we kept running into ourselves

The team behind this site has been building content-heavy web applications for over a decade. We kept encountering the same situation: a client or teammate would upload an uncompressed 8MB hero image, the PageSpeed score would drop into the 40s, and we'd spend time explaining why that mattered.

Existing free compressors either sent files to servers we weren't comfortable using for client work, had file limits that made batch processing impractical, or produced results with visible quality issues. The paid tools were good but unjustifiable for small teams and individual developers doing this occasionally.

So in 2023 we built a browser-based compressor for internal use — one that hit precise file size targets rather than applying a fixed quality percentage. The results were noticeably better than what we'd been using, and people we shared it with kept asking if they could use it too. That's when we turned it into a proper public tool and kept building from there.

What we stand for

Three things we won't compromise on

🔒

Privacy isn't a feature, it's the architecture

Browser-side processing isn't a marketing claim — it's a technical constraint we chose deliberately. When your images don't touch a server, there's nothing to breach, no data retention question, no policy to read carefully.

🆓

Free means actually free

No "free tier" with crippled functionality. No watermarks. No file caps designed to push you toward a paid plan. Core tools stay free. The site earns revenue from advertising, period.

📐

Quality over convenience

The binary-search compression algorithm takes more computation than a flat quality setting — we do it anyway because the results are meaningfully better. We'd rather build the right thing slowly than the easy thing quickly.

Try the tools for yourself

No account needed. No files uploaded. Just drop your images in and see what happens.
